From the Pastor’s Pen

The dog days of summer are certainly in full force here in South Georgia! Sometime I stop to think of what life would be like for us if we did not have the blessing of air conditioning. The ability to walk in out of the heat into a cool house is certainly something that I think we take for granted. But there are many other things we take for granted as well such as electricity, water, food and even our health. I also think we take for granted the people around us. In the family of God here at New Life, God has placed people in our lives for a purpose. One of the greatest problems a church can have is discord and a lack of a shared purpose. This often happens when we begin to take one another for granted. We need each other, The church cannot afford to divide over small issues when the world is hurting so badly. The gospel of Jesus Christ must be “above all” in the list of priorities for the church. Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 2:2, “I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” People need the Lord. The church needs to be sharing Christ with the world and not murmuring against the world and against one another. The words of Paul in Galatians 5:15 should be remembered by all of Christ’ s followers, “But if you bite and devour one another, watch out, or you will be consumed by one another.”
Now more than ever, we must rally together and push forward in a unified manner proclaiming the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. I pray for our church daily. I pray for unity and love to grow in our fellowship. I pray for fervency and faithfulness among God’s people. I pray that the enemy cannot gain a foothold in our congregation. Our only defense and hope is in Christ. I am reminded of the words of James 4:7-8, “Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners, purify your hearts, you double –minded.” I love each of you and I am praying for us. May God bring us together and keep us together by his mighty power.
Love in Christ,
Bro. Chad
